



1. The Cathedral must for the centre point of any visit to Canterbury. Founded in 597AD, is the mother church of the Anglican Communion.
2. The UNESCO World Heritage Site comprises the Cathedral, along with St Augustine's Abbey and St Martin's Church.
3. Canterbury Tales is another of Canterbury's most popular visitor attractions, where you can join Geoffrey Chaucer's Pilgrims and hear their medieval adventure stories as you experience the sights, sounds and smells of the 14th Century in this stunning recreation of the Middle Ages.
4. Canterbury has excellent shopping facilities, the new Whitefriars shopping centre has all the top high street shops, as well as the Kings Mile, has a wide variety of specialist shops, from jewellers to antique shops, to boutique clothes shops.
5. Howlett's is a 90-acre wild animal park, with the largest captive breeding group of gorillas in the world. Visitors can see African elephants, tigers, bison, Brazilian tapirs and rare monkeys.
6. Why not discover the city through a guided tour? Join the Guild of Guides for a walking tour of the City, or see the city from a completely different perspective, on a river boat tour. The Visitor Information Centre offers self-guided tours so you can discover some of the hidden gems of the City yourself. Or take a spooky ghost tour around the ancient city, and discover some of the city's past residents.
7. There are so many cultural attractions to the city, maybe a trip to the Marlowe Theatre to see a touring show, or visit one of the city's' many art galleries to browse at some local art of excellent calibre.
8. How about visiting Greyfriars Friary, the oldest Franciscan building in Britain, and is the sole remains of the chapel and house of the first Franciscan settlement.
9. There is a wide range of museums in Canterbury, with something to interest everyone. From 'Murder Holes' at the Westgate Towers to the famous Canterbury Cross at The Museum of Canterbury. There is something to interest everyone at the City's museums.
10. After a busy day sightseeing, why not spend a relaxing afternoon in one of the many parks and gardens. The Dane John Gardens is Canterbury's most popular park, and the Westgate Gardens is a beautifully landscaped garden by the river Stour.
