York is a city of Must Sees!  To get you started here is a list of York's Top 10 things to see and do:

1.  York Castle Museum offers you the chance to see the old Victorian and Edwardian Streets and meet the people too!

2.  Step inside the stunning York Minster, the largest Gothic Cathedral north of the Alps with excellent examples of stained glass. If you've a head for heights climb the steps of the Tower or go underground into the Undercroft and Crypt.

3.  Travel back to AD975 to hear, see and smell Viking history at the exciting and entertaining JORVIK which brings alive the story of the Viking's impact on Britain. Try out your archaeological talents at the recently opened DIG.

4. Ride the Yorkshire Wheel at the National Railway Museum. Superb views over the city at York's newest and highest attraction at 54m high. Then take in the National Railway Museum itself, the biggest and best rail attraction in the world!

5. Walk up the steps for another great view of York from Clifford's Tower, originally built by William the Conqueror and rebuilt by Henry III in 13th Century.

6. For another new addition to York's list of things to see and do - try out the Cold War Bunker recently opened up by English Heritage.

7. Wander down winding cobbled shopping streets and ginnels such as the Shambles and Stonegate for a distinctive shopping experience.

8.  Walk the Walls.  Take a fascinating look at the city from another angle from the Walls - if you are short of time try Bootham Bar to Monk Bar which takes you right behind the Minster.

9.  York is reputedly the most haunted city in Europe - so why not try out one of many Ghost Walks or a Ghost Cruise, if you dare! Don't forget the York Dungeon to complete your tour into York's darker side.

10. Cruise the Ouse on a guided tour with one of the many river cruises on offer or hop on a Red Boat and meander along at your leisure.
